"No one is coming to save us. If we want something, we have to make it ourselves."
Spoons is an indie game showcase rooted in Denver built for small teams, solo creators, and experimental work. No gatekeeping. No table fees. No cost to attend. And everyone leaves having eaten a good meal.
Spoons is community-driven and intentionally designed. Every element of the night, from the exhibitor floor to the live performance, is in service of one idea: our scene deserves its own space.
Spoons is structured as an environment, not a schedule. Here's what you'll find when you arrive.
The heart of the night. Curated indie games and demos from Colorado developers -- playable, talkable, remarkable. Every exhibitor was invited, not bought a table.
Dedicated tabletop rooms running through the night. More intimate, more sustained. A counterweight to the open floor; come play a full session or just watch one unfold.
Something to discover, not announce. Spoons includes an exploratory component woven through the space -- designed to surprise and reframe how the rest of the night feels.
A free dinner for every attendee, every vendor. A free-take pantry for anyone who needs it. To-go meal kits available. This is not an afterthought. It's the point.
The night closes with a concert and a short philosophical talk on what we're building and why. A collective moment after hours of individual exploration.
Game art, merch, and mystery boxes up for bid throughout the night. All proceeds go directly to food donations. A reason to keep moving through the space.
Our first event drew 100 attendees and 25 developers. We're on track to double that. Here's who was in the room.

"Spoons is an incredible opportunity for local game developers to connect with each other and with the public. I ended the night with a very full heart."Quinn Silver — Penfeather Games
"It was great to get feedback from a wide variety of people. We are very much for the mission of Spoons; making sure those who create are fed."Russ Allen — RxR Games
"Spoons is not just a random get-together, but a unique event planned months, if not years, in advance; which is why the community buzzes about it afterwards."Calvin Pinsuwan — 5X Train
Spoons is selective, not exclusive. We're looking for Colorado-based indie creators who care about community as much as craft. Video games, TTRPGs, interactive art, and original game music are all welcome here.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Spoons was built on a simple idea: creative community and mutual aid aren't separate values. We serve a full community meal to every attendee and vendor. A free pantry is open to anyone who needs it. To-go meal kits go home with anyone who wants one.
This is not a marketing gesture. It's why the event exists.
Gluten-free and vegan options available.
We work with sponsors intentionally and collaboratively. Every partnership is custom-built to align with your goals and the spirit of the event. We're at an inflection point; an opportunity to get in early and help shape what Spoons becomes.
